 oil painting by Cindy Revell
I recently discovered the talents of the artist Cindy Revell, and I'd like to share what I found.
Cindy's delightful illustrations, which are influenced by folk, medieval and eastern arts have a fresh and bold quality which I find enchanting. Cindy's animals and characters have exuberant expressions of shape and color. Her plump, luscious vegetables and whimsical landscapes are as inviting as a dazzling autumn day.
The lush, rich colors which Cindy exudes in her illustrations are seamlessly translated in her more traditional oil paintings. Being influenced by the Flemish painters, Cindy's still life's, landscapes and animals are portrayed in dramatic light and texture. The viewer is transported to a quieter, more contemplative place to explore and enjoy.

 Rob and rebar
Rob Ciervo, our contractor is seen here placing the rebar, the reinforcement rods in the freshly poured concrete that was funneled into the ICF blocks of the basement. As this is an artist's blog, I'd like to mention that the ongoing house construction journeling in my blog is the most necessary item of interest to an artist- that is having a suitable studio environment to work in, and that of course is one of the primary reasons for this house.

 "Good Hair Day/Bad Hair Day"
David and I participated in the Peters Valley Craft Show last weekend at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in New Jersey. Our booths were set up side by side where we met and greeted old friends and new during the two days of the show. The judges awarded a Third Place ribbon to David for his pottery. We were both pleased with the turn out of many lovely art patrons. We enjoyed the comaraderie of other exhibiting artists and felt that the experience was very worthwhile. I met a poet, Alina Galliano who talked to me about using my images in one of her poetry books. This was a delightful idea that I hope will come to fruition.

"Slide down my rainspout, come through my cellar door, and we'll be jolly friends forevermore."
This childhood jingle came to mind as I'm writing...

 ICF basement walls
After a few hours, it's beginning to look like the walls for a basement. By tomorrow all the blocks will be in place for an 8 foot wall. The building inspector has to pass his approval before the concrete is poured into the styrofoam forms.
